With a deep passion for stewardship, a love of buildings and their component materials, and an over seven year background in the deconstruction field, I am proposing a speech for the Sustainability Conference on integrating Deconstruction techniques into LEED projects more often to fulfill MR credits.
This speech will highlight:
- Why Deconstruction? (the heart)
- How the techniques fit in with almost all LEED programs
- Barriers and solutions
- Where the materials go once they are removed
- Ideas on the reuse of material in the same project
- The warm fuzzes, added value (nostalgia and provenance)
- The economics of Deconstruction as compared with recycling only
- Potential Green Jobs
- Successful projects
