Rocky Mountain Green 2010 - A Special Thank YouBy Glen Girard, USGBC CO Communications Chair On behalf of the entire Rocky Mountain Green 2010 Conference Committee, we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who made the conference a success. The two day event was attended by over 400 green building professionals from a range of industry segments and disciplines. As the conference continues to advance, we appreciate those who returned again this year and others who experienced the event for their first time. The conference provided valuable networking time to connect with industry colleagues and the opportunity to tour LEED certified buildings, showcasing real world examples of green building methods. The conference contained a variety of educational topics, each offering GBCI Continuing Education hours for LEED professionals. Speakers delivered sessions that reviewed the latest industry advancements, presented lessons from real world practitioners, and introduced future building trends. The opening plenary session presented by Bill Black, co-author of the book “The Commercial Real Estate Revolution”, delivered a passionate perspective on how the fragmented ‘Design – Bid – Build’ process contains waste and inefficiencies. The session included an inspirational viewpoint demonstrating how a collaborative process produces a higher quality product with a lower total cost. The closing plenary panel delivered local examples of government green building projects in several Colorado cities and towns. The varied social and economic climate in each municipality demonstrated the diversity of our state. The program would not have been possible without contributions from our corporate supporters. The exhibit hall contained a wide range of leading products and valuable services for our growing industry. Additionally, we would like to recognize our conference sponsors whose generous support enabled us to offer an extensive program for the green building community. As with any conference, the end result can only be made possible with extensive planning and event management. Thank you to our board of directors for their guidance, the tireless staff for their dedication, and so many volunteers who contributed their valuable time. The conference committee is encouraged by the success of Rocky Mountain Green 2010. Be on the lookout for information about Rocky Mountain Green 2011. We hope to see everyone back next year.
