Job Title: Associate Engineer I

Job Description for posting:

Do you want to be on the forefront of energy efficiency engineering and work with a wide assortment of experienced modelers, analysts, engineers, and architects?  This position may be for you!  Architectural Energy Corporation (AEC) has an entry-level position for an Associate Engineer I in its Boulder, CO office.  You would develop and run energy simulations in variety of software packages to analyze energy efficiency measures and help our clients to design the best, most sustainable buildings.  Education and relocation benefits are available; and just outside your office door is some of the best skiing, hiking, running, and river-rafting country in North America!

If you are interested, you need the following qualifications:

  • An undergraduate four-year degree in engineering or architecture.
  • Excellent communication skills -- oral, written, and presentation. Facility with necessary supporting software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Basic understanding of building mechanical systems and engineering principles.
  • Ability to assist senior staff with takeoffs, documentation, and precalculation of inputs.
  • Ability to determine and utilize appropriate model input characteristics from various stages of construction documentation.
  • Working knowledge of design and construction processes.
  • Motivated to engage in ongoing training to keep skills current and fresh.

Our interest will be even greater if you have these qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in engineering or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience in a building related field, preferably mechanical engineering, architecture, commissioning or building operations.
  • Building energy simulation experience with tools such as DOE-2, Equest, EnergyPlus, LBL Window and / or THERM.
  • Broad understanding of sustainable design as applied to commercial construction.
  • Engineering Intern status (i.e., having passed the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam)
  • Desire and ability to earn a Professional Engineering License when eligible.
  • Ability to travel out of state.

Salary Range:    $50,000-$60,000
