Poudre School District Sustainable Design Guidelines
Poudre School District Sustainability Management System
In Poudre School District, both Energy Conservation and Waste Management policies make environmental stewardship an integral part of the physical plan operation. The purpose of the Sustainable Design Guidelines is to provide direction for applying these policies to the construction of new facilities and the renovation of existing schools

Colorado Springs District 11 Sustainable Design Guidelines
District 11 adopted an Energy Policy in 2000 that establishes a long-term sustainable energy management program.  The purpose of the Sustainable Design Guidelines is to provide direction for applying these policies to the construction of new facilities and therenovation of existing schools.

Montgomery County Public Schools High Performance Green Building Plans
This website covers Rockville, Maryland’s green schools program, providing design guides, and information on green schools for facilities managers, administrators, teachers, parents, and students.

Collaborative for High Performance Schools
The Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) is the standard for designing California’s public schools. This website includes a Best Practices Manual— a reference for high performance school design. The CHPS program is being adapted by other states, like Massachusetts.

The Pacific Northwest Pollution Prevention Resource Center (PPRC)

LEED for Schools
The LEED for Schools Rating System recognizes the unique nature of the design and construction of K-12 schools. Based on the LEED for New Construction rating system, it addresses issues such as classroom acoustics, master planning, mold prevention and environmental site assessment.

LEED-Registered and Certified Schools (updated April 4, 2008)
Find maps and lists of schools that are already LEED Certified and maps and lists of schools that are re LEED-registered—currently being designed and/or constructed and going for LEED-certification.

Energy Smart Schools
This website includes resources on how to plan, design, build and operate an Energy Smart School, plus creative activities and curriculum for all ages.

Alliance to Save Energy Green Schools Project
The Green Schools program is specifically geared toward school districts looking to make their existing buildings more efficient. The website offers helpful guidelines for starting a program.

Energy Star for Schools
The Energy Star for Schools program assists facilities decision-makers in improving their school’s energy performance and labeling their buildings as Energy Star certified. Most of the information on the website applies to facilities in general, rather than to schools specifically. Resources available through the website include information about financing Energy Star buildings, building design guidance, service and product providers, and energy and financial management resources.

Governor's Energy Office
The Governor’s Energy Office can help schools reduce their energy costs and allocate the savings toward improved facilities and academics through the Performance Contracting program serving existing facilities, and the High Performance Design program for new facilities.
